Roll Top Desk for Recording Studio

This remarkable piece is a recording studio desk/console specially created for my oldest daughter's boyfriend at the time and now her husband, who owns a recording studio. His primary requirement was to have a console that could securely house all of his electronics, and he specifically requested a roll top design. The most challenging aspect of this project was dealing with the roll top itself. With a width of 50 inches, I had to overcome the potential issue of the tambour (the technical term for the roll top panel) bowing in the center and dislodging from the tracks. To solve this problem, I ingeniously constructed a hidden roller system that ensured the tambour remained flat and securely within the track.

To further enhance functionality, the two floor units of the console discreetly conceal various components behind pocket doors. Additionally, all of the doors feature locks, providing optimal security for the electronics when necessary. For the construction of this exceptional piece, I utilized Melamine material with Oak trim, resulting in a durable and visually appealing final product.
