This is a recording studio desk/console. My oldest daughter's boyfriend has a recording studio and needed to secure all of his electronics when he was not there. He asked for the console to be made with a roll top. The challenge of this project was the roll top itself. The width of the roll top is 50 inches so I had to contend with the tambour (that is the technical name for the roll top panel) bowing in the center and coming out of the tracks. I solved this problem by constructing a hidden roller system that kept the tambour flat and in the track. The components which occupy the two floor units are concealed with pocket doors and all of the doors have locks that secure all of the electronics when needed.
The material I used to construct this piece was Melamine with Oak trim.
