Book Cases

This corner Bookcase and Desk freestanding unit combination was done in conjunction with a General Contractor.  The customer saw a similar piece to this in a sample home when she was looking at homes.  She liked the piece so much that when she bought her house she described the shelving unit to her General Contractor, and he then hired me to help create the final unit.  The Arches that are displayed in the unit are raised panels with a keystone in the center.  The doors on the bottom of the unit are also raised panels to match the arches.  The shelf side rails are fluted and were created from raw material to meet the customer’s specifications.  The wood in this piece is stained popular and pine.

I stop by this flower shop each Saturday to buy flowers for my wife, and the owner of the shop asked me to build this book shelf for her Granddaughter as a Christmas gift.  The piece was for a bedroom, so size was an issue that I had to deal with when designing and building this unit.  The customer wanted a light color to match her Granddaughters room.  We chose to make this out of selected Pine with a bead board back.  The case was stained with natural color then the entire unit was coated several times with polyurethane protective coat.
